AMETEK ADDS FOUNDATION FIELDBUS CAPABILITY TO LINKBUS RIMS FOR REMOTE MONITORING OF PROCESS INSTRUMENTS

PITTSBURGH, PA – AMETEK Process Instruments, working with Fieldbus Inc., has added a Fieldbus Foundation interface to its LINKBUS Remote Instrument Monitoring System (LINKBUS RIMS), which provides users of AMETEK process analyzers and instruments with 24/7 plant wide access to a wide range of AMETEK process instruments.
“This added capability allows AMETEK RIMS to be integrated with a wide range of plant control systems. It also provides a data bridge so that older analyzers using proprietary communications protocols can be integrated into modern Fieldbus Foundation networks,” notes Tom Marecic, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Process Instruments.
“AMETEK’s LINKBUS RIMS already is among the most flexible and user friendly systems. It already is available for our full line of Thermox flue gas analyzers as well as our Western Research 880/Series 4000 photometric analyzers and 5000 Series Moisture Analyzers,” adds Mr. Marecic.
The LINKBUS RIMS provides easy access to analyzer information and trend data that allows maintenance personnel to make the most efficient use of limited resources and to determine process problems versus analyzer inaccuracy faster. If outside assistance is needed, AMETEK factory personnel can be granted access to provide additional troubleshooting expertise.
The elimination of routine maintenance visits allows operators to focus their attention where it is needed most. Enhanced reliability and improved analyzer performance also lead to tighter process control and greater operating efficiency.
LINKBUS RIMS draws on AMETEK’s more than 30 years of experience in the design and development of sophisticated process analyzers. Its modular design allows plant personnel to troubleshoot problems in minutes without any need to visit the analyzer location.
